It's the 50th Anniversary of Emmett Louis Till's death — a fourteen-year-old black Chicago youth who was slain in Money, Mississippi in 1955.

Emmett Till who was visiting family in the Delta had the great misfortune of finding out what Southern Hospitality means when two white men, Roy Bryant and J. W. Milam decided to teach him a lesson for allegedly whistling at a white woman, Bryant's wife. Abducted, severely beaten, and finally thrown into the Tallahatchie River with a weight fastened around his neck with barbed wire, Emmett Till was murdered for one of the oldest forbidden taboos in America's history, addressing a white woman in public. The murderers were later arrested, but were acquitted in a court of law by an all white, all male jury. Emmett did not die in vain. The death of Emmett Till sparked the black resistance of the South, soon to become the American Civil Rights Movement.

In this documentary directed by Keith Beauchamp, a family's agony is finally told revealing the truth surrounding the Till case by the people who were there.

R. Alexander Acosta, assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Division said Monday that officials will reopen the Emmett Till's race-motivated murder following a long campaign by the NAACP, members of Congress and Mobley, who died in Chicago last year at age 81.

Keith A. Beauchamp, found evidence after examining the case for nine years for "The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till." He believes as many as seven additional people may have been involved, many of them still alive.

Beauchamp began researching "The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till" seven years ago, working with Emmett's mother, Mamie Till Mobley, until her death this year.

It took three years for him to persuade Simeon Wright to talk. But Wright later introduced him to brothers John and Roosevelt Crawford. The latter, who recently retired from General Motors in Detroit, said it was about time. "It's been 47 years, and nobody ever tried to contact me or get in touch with me, not the NAACP, not the civil rights groups."
